Trip to Prague, Czech Republic, 26-31st July 2009

We went to the airport to catch an aeroplane to Prague for Mummy to attend the ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference. Daddy and I came along too for a holiday. It was exciting to go on an aeroplane for the first time, but there was lots of waiting around before the plane took off.

Our hotel was the Hilton in Prague, and our room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the large atrium in the middle of the hotel. We all stayed in the same room and I had my own bed. Daddy hired a baby monitor so they could go and give me some privacy and quiet for me to go to sleep at night, while they went to the lounge or one of the restaurants in the evening.

On Sunday we went to the zoo. I liked paddling in the little waterfalls, and looking at lemurs, elephants, monkeys and polar bears.

On Monday we wandered along the river into the old town and had lunch opposite the astronomical clock. Here I am checking out the menu.

When Mummy was busy at her conference, Daddy and I did more sight-seeing in Prague, including the seeing soldiers changing the guard at Prague castle, and visiting Wenceslas Square (we even rode on a tram).

On Wednesday afternoon, Mummy had some time off and we went for a boat ride along the river. On the way to the mooring we bumped into Mummy's boss Isabel who came with us too. The boat trip included some cake and a drink which was very nice. The weather was still warm and sunny, and it was a great way to see the famous Charles Bridge.

Every day after breakfast Daddy and I went swimming in the hotel swimming pool. With my arm bands on I really enjoyed swimming on my own (here is a little movie of me swimming). On Thursday Mummy gave her presentation at the conference, and we sneaked a peek in through the door. She did very well.

On Friday morning before we flew home, we went to Petrin Hill, and on the funicular railway to the top of the hill where we explored a maze of mirrors. We had lunch overlooking some fine views of the city.
