The Birth Story:

Baby Rosalind Catherine (Rosie) Moore was born on Sunday 18th February at 7.08am. She weighed 8lbs 3oz (3.7kg in metric). Phil started labour in the morning of Saturday and went to the hospital at teatime on Saturday evening. Started off in a warm bath to help with the fairly frequent contractions until she was far enough dilated for some proper pain relief. By about 9pm Phil was using gas an air in the bath to take the edge off the pain. This also had the same effect as consumption of about half a bottle of wine! However, Phil was still very keen to get her epidural, and by 11pm when Phil was back in bed the anaesthetist was in attendance and started to administer the epidural. This finally took full effect by midnight and Phil and Andrew could then get some real rest through the small hours while the contractions kept going until Phil was sufficiently dilated to start pushing.  Baby also seemed more stable once the epidural was working. By 7am the doctor reckoned it was time to get going, and they seemed keen to get baby out quite quickly so used forceps while Phil started pushing (still lovely and pain free). Ten minutes later baby Rosie arrived, and was very vocal, and lovely and healthy. Phil spent the next day and a half on the ward recovering from the epidural and giving birth. Mummy, Daddy and Rosie got home at about 5pm on Monday afternoon.
